VBS 2012 - Day 4

Day four of VBS was rained out on Thursday, so we resumed on Friday, July 6th, and added Saturday as the last day. That way the kids could enjoy a full five days of VBS as originally planned. Day four was exciting because it was declared "Crazy Hat Day!" I was looking forward to  seeing how many kids would participate and exactly what creative hat ideas they would come up with. There were a few that were brave enough to wear their creations and the results were great!

The "puppy" - his ears were made from socks!

In my opinion, this was the best hat. A snail made out of scarves!

This is a close up of the top of the snail hat.
Throughout this post I will also share some adorable photos our missionary wife photographer was able to capture. She took TONS of photos which makes it a bit difficult to narrow down which ones I want to post but I am so thankful that while David and I are concentrating on the execution of the day's plans, she is walking around capturing the special moments.

Like this one, for example.

This is Katie's baby girl, Karalyn being held by one of the teen girls.

Now, back to the crazy hats!

Our son, Timothy's crazy hat!

Our son, Ryan's popcorn hat.

Just being goofy!

All the crazy hat contestants together!

Our dear little Sasha reviewing his verse with David before he registers.

I LOVE this photo of Karalyn smiling as our daughter reaches out for her!
Point tabulation time!
We had two teams for the week who competed against each other. Each morning we tabulated the points and announced which team was in the lead. The kids love the competition!

 What a goofy face!

Song time.

Here are a few more candid moments that Katie captured.

No, we have no idea exactly what this guy was doing!

Bible lesson time - today's theme was "Run to Win" with the story being about Daniel.

Ryslan teaching the kids about Daniel doing right no matter what.

Nancy and the kids during the review game.

Showing the children a few of the team medals
they could win at the end of the week.

Speaking of medals, our judges decided to award all of the children chocolate medals since they were all original crazy hats!

Proudly receiving their medals!

Next up, game time!

Love the concentration on these faces!

My little buddy and I watching the games.

Me and my entourage'. We were carrying the rope away so one of the neighborhood dogs wouldn't carry it away!
Toss the dinosaur!

This game was a favorite last year.
The two teams hold sheets and try to volley the dinosaur back and forth!

It looked like so much fun the men gave it a try against the kids!

Good job guys!

Just before officially ending the day, we handed out worksheets for the kids to complete and bring back the next day.

Then, almost a tradition, a final game of soccer for those kids who love to hang around and play with all the Americans!
